Today, individuals can often be torn between caring for their own families and their elderly parents. What if there were trusted and reliable caregivers to help make it possible for seniors to remain in their own home, someone to take them to doctors’ appointments, shop for their groceries, do their laundry and prepare their meals? What if someone was available to run their errands and take care of their non-medical needs?
A new business, offering just those services, has opened in Central Pennsylvania. Amy Miller and Lisa Klisiewicz recently opened Home Helpers in Antis Township.
Home Helpers gives seniors the extra help they need to manage their everyday life. It’s not only for seniors though, quality care is provided for seniors, expectant moms, new families and individuals recuperating from illness or injury. Caregivers work independently with clients each day and are available to provide assistance for a few hours, once a day, once a week or everyday.
Services are available for people that require and desire assistance with daily activities. These services can be provided anywhere a family needs them such as in their home, in the hospital, a rehabilitation center, nursing home or in a retirement community and are tailored to the individual’s needs.
Home Helpers offers many non-medical services including in-home companion care; personal care; shopping for groceries or clothes; errand services; light housework; preparing meals; arranging maid service, lawn care, minor home repair and garbage collection; keeping up with current social and community events; transportation to doctors or therapy sessions; laundry and weekly linen washing; entertainment; walks; telephone check-ups and visiting friends and neighbors. Many other services are also available upon request.
Home Helpers is a national company with corporate offices in Cincinnati, Ohio. Each office is independently owned and operated
Miller and Klisiewicz have both worked in the local community in the healthcare field, including many years in long term care. Both are passionate in their belief that ones quality of life remains greater if they are able to stay in their own environment. There is a great need for compassionate and professional home care services in this area. This is the reason they brought Home Helpers to the community.
According to a recent press release from Miller and Klisiewicz, “(This generation has) been called ‘the sandwich generation.’ People who may have put off having children to first establish their careers are caught in a squeeze: raising young children while starting to face the worries of caring for aging, ailing parents.
“Imagine the peace of mind a ‘sandwich generation’ woman would have if she knew her elderly parents had a qualified caregiver providing personalized services on a flexible schedule.
“Home Helpers services can be arranged to fit individual needs, from morning ‘perk-up’ to evening ‘tuck-in,’ plus a variety of services in between.
“Home Helpers is flexible. A Home Helper caregiver can be available on an hourly, daily or weekly basis, day or night. Although senior citizens who are looking to remain independent in their own homes are ideal candidates for the services. Home Helpers also offers loving care to expecting/new mothers and those recovering from a recent illness or injury. In fact, Home Helpers’ services can be tailored to meet anyone’s personal requirements.
“All Home Helpers caregivers are reliable professionals who have been thoroughly screened, bonded, background checked and formally oriented to each client’s specific needs. All Home Helpers caregivers are employees, not subcontractors, and they are all bonded and insured.”
“In a society where family members sometimes live hundreds of miles from each other, Home Helpers can step in to fill the role of a good neighbor,” said Miller, “Because our customers decide how often and when they need us, Home Helpers is an affordable and convenient choice.”
According to its website, Home Helpers business philosophy is to “Provide our clients with quality, non-medical personal care services. Treat each client as if we were taking care of a family member. Our clients are the foundation of our business… and we must act accordingly.”
