PennDOT announced today that rehabilitation work has begun on a bridge structure on Route 4027 (Old Route 220) over McFarland’s Run in Snyder Township, Blair County.
The rehabilitation work will mainly consist of a latex overlay, with other minor repairs to the abutments and roadway approach work.
The work area is to be delineated and protected with the use of barriers, barricades and flag-person control. All work will be done under half-width construction where a lane of travel will be available in each direction. Minimal delays are expected.
The work on this bridge structure is one of three bridges being worked on under a $3.2 million contract. The other two structures are located along the entrance and exit ramps of I-99 at Bald Eagle. The first is located over Bald Eagle Creek and the second is located over the Nittany and Bald Eagle Railroad.
The work on these two structures consists of replacing the existing deck joints and the removal and replacement of the bridge deck surface with latex concrete overlays. Some associated roadway work will also take place during this project, such as shoulder upgrades, the construction of a raised median and some additional bituminous overlay work.
All work is weather-dependent and early phases of work will be under flag person control.
The contractor for this project is Swank Associated Companies, Inc., of New Kensington. All work is expected to be complete by late November.
