The Bellwood-Antis community has been coming together for the annual community picnic for the past 87 years.
The gathering is filled with entertainment, games, prizes, bingo, fireworks and a Star Search competition.
Last year, picnic organizers asked residents to get creative and help design a logo that will symbolize the community and picnic, both in the past and present.
A contest was held and individuals were asked to submit their Bellwood-Antis Community Picnic logo designs. Initial judging was done by an outside panel of judges and four finalists were chosen. The contest was open to all residents of the Bellwood-Antis community and alumni, although committee members were not eligible to participate.
Logos were judged on originality, theme orientation and adaptability to printing purposes.
The finalists were then displayed at last year’s community picnic where residents were able to vote for their favorites.
The artists’ names remained unknown throughout the judging process.
The top four entries also received cash prizes.
Prizes awarded were: first place, $100; second place, $75; third place, $50 and fourth place, $25.
The winning logo, which was designed by Cindy Burket, was displayed at this year’s picnic last week. It shows an outline of Pennsylvania and features common scenes in this area such as the railroad.
Second place went to Daniel Papi, third place to Lindsey Erickson and fourth place was awarded to Stephanie Damiano.
