Mrs. Sylvia L. Vandevander, 77, a guest at Epworth Manor, Tyrone, formerly of Bellwood died early Sunday morning, September 18, 2005, at the manor.
She was born in Bellwood, a daughter of the late Clarence and Gertrude (Ulsh) Worthing. She married William E. Vandevander on July 1, 1950 in Bellwood, he died on December 12, 1996.
Mrs. Vandevander is survived by a daughter: Carol J. Peterman and husband David of Tyrone RD2; a son: Robert William Vandevander and wife Dian of Glennpooll, OK; grandchildren: Angela and Matthew Vandevander; sisters: Chloe Weaver of Bellmeade and Jeanette Hicks of Johnstown.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Cory Vandevander and a sister, Louella Patterson.
Mrs. Vandevander retired as co-owner of the Vandevander Market, Bellwood after 26 years of service.
She was a 1947 graduate of Bellwood Antis High School.
Mrs. Vandevander was a member of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bellwood.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, September 20 at the Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood and from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. time of funeral service, Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bellwood, with Rev. Peggy Bonsell officiating.
Interment at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township.
