Bishop Guilfoyle traveled to Bellwood-Antis for a girls volleyball match on Monday night. In recent years, this battles bewteen the two closely-located schools have been all that fans and coaches could ask for. On Monday, the Lady Blue Devils took the match in three straight games to continue their quest to get back to the PIAAstate playoffs, where Bellwood-Antis finished fifth in the state a year ago.
The B-A girls won 25-3 with a quick start, 25-16 and 25-12 to improve to a perfect 9-0.
Leading the way for the Lady Blue Devils were Lauren Carter with 15 service points,. which included three aces, nine kills, and eight blocks , and Katie Palmer who added 11 service points, including four aces, with eight digs, and 14 assists.
Bishop Guilfoyle drops to 4-4 with the loss.
“The girls played consistent and hard throughout the match,” said Bellwood-Antis coach Stephanie Burner. “They were able to control the match with good defense and passing and dominated on the net”
The Bishop Guilfoyle junior varsity (8-0) remained undefeated by winning the first and third games by two points each 25-23 and 18-16, while the B-A junior varsity (8-1), who dropped their first match won the middle game easily 25-11.
