Recently, Randy Miles, Sr., chairman of the Tyrone Hospital Development Council, presented a check in the amount of $17,356.45 to Walter S. Van Dyke, CEO of Tyrone Hospital.
The funds presented were raised by the Development Council via a golf tournament held in August. The funds will be used to help purchase a teleradiology system for Tyrone Hospital.
“We are about half-way to achieving our fund raising goal for this year,” said Miles.
The teleradiology system will cost an estimated $30,000. The teleradiology system will allow the hospital to transmit digital diagnostic images, such as CT scans and MRI images, to physicians via the internet. This will give the hospital greater access to physicians who can interpret test results and also provide patient test results more quickly during evening and weekend hours.
Miles said the Development Council is grateful for the support from community members, members of the Tyrone Hospital family, social/civic groups and area businesses who have made contributions.
“We are striving to raise the remaining dollars needed to bring this state of the art technology to our community and any contributions are welcome,” he added.
The next Development Council fund raiser is the Tree of Light, an annual holiday event that involves placing angels on trees located at the hospital in memory of loved ones or to honor those living.
