Seussical is a fast paced, up tempo story combining a number of Dr. Seuss books but focusing, primarily, on Horton Hears A Who. Don\’t be deceived, Seussical is a delightful theater event for young audiences and performers, but is equally appropriate and enjoyable for adults.
Characters in Seussical include: seven principle males: Horton The Elephant, The Wickersham Brothers (three monkeys), Vlad, Yertle The Turtle and The Mayor of Whoville; seven principle females: Gertrude McFuzz, Mayzie LeBird, The Bird Girls (a trio), The Sour Kangaroo and the Mayor\’s wife.
In addition is The Cat In The Hat (either gender), one young performer, JoJo (either gender) and a full chorus of animals, trees and mountains from the Jungle Of Nool and Whos from Whoville.
Two special scenes in the show will be comprised entirely of young performers who will be scheduled to rehearse at an earlier time than the regular rehearsal. Their rehearsal schedule may include some Saturday choreography sessions.
If anyone has questions about auditions or needs to schedule an alternate date, phone the ArtsLine at 684-ART2 and the call will be returned.
Seussical will be under the direction of Cindy Bennett with music by Brett Keith and choreography by Brian Williamson.
