Bellwood-Antis hosted Claysburg-Kimmel on Tuesday evening at the B-A High School volleyball nets.
The Lady Blue Devils won their 16th straight match overall, easily taking three straight games, 25-8, 25-6, and 25-12. In the process, the Bellwood-Antis girls claimed their third straight Mountain Athletic Conference Division 3 championship. The Lady Blue Devils have built up a perfect 36-0 mark in the division, having never lost to a division team in the three-year history of the MAC.
Lauren Carter had 10 service points including four aces, nine digs and 14 kills for the Lady Blue Devils, Nicole Ross had 15 service points, Haley Crider hadded eight service points, and Chelsea Wilson added five service points, five blocks and six kills.
“Tonight was senior night for the girls and they were very excited to play,” said Bellwood-Antis volleyball coach Stephanie Burner. “I couldn’t be more proud of the girls as they have consistently played tough against opponents of all levels and have improved to 16-0, with 48 consecutive regular season game wins”
Seniors Lauren Carter, Nicole Ross and Haley Crider, who combined for 33 service points, along with Meredith Palmer, Katie Palmer and Danielle Riley were honored before the beginning of the match.
The Bellwood-Antis junior varsity improved to 15-1 sweeping two games from Claysburg-Kimmel 25-10 and 25-9.
The Bellwood-Antis volleyball squad will take to the road for their final two regular season games. B-A will play at Mount Union today at 6 p.m. and then travel to Altoona to meet Bishop Guilfoyle, Thursday at 6 :30 p.m. in the regular season finale.
