The Tyrone swim teams made the long trip to Patton on Monday evening for their scheduled meet with Cambria Heights. Both teams monopolized the first place finishes and captured enough seconds and thirds to come back to Tyrone with victories. These were the final meets for the swim teams until after the holidays. The next pool action will be at Bishop McCort on Jan. 6, 2006.
Dustin Elder and Ethan Nulton led the way for the undefeated boys (4-0) who knocked off Cambria Heights easily 96-63.
Elder won both the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle and Nulton took both the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. Zac Yeaton won the 100 IM, Chris Bradigan won the 50 freestyle and Matt Elder won the 100 backstroke. In addition, the Eagles also won all three relay events for 10 first places out the 11 total events.
Nulton, Yeaton, Bradigan and Philip Kreckle won the 200 medley relay, Elder, Kreckle, Bradigan and Nulton won the 200 freestyle relay and Randy Wilson, Matt Grimm, Elder and Yeaton won the 400 freestyle relay.
Kreckle was second in the 200 freestyle, Elder in the 100 butterfly and Bradigan in the 100 freestyle.
Cambria Heights’ Derek Barcelos set a school record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:07.34, breaking a record set back in 1976.
Coming back from their first loss of the season, the Lady Eagles (3-1) received big per formances from Leah Cherry, Kelly Pearson and Paige Black and won nine of the 11 events.
Cherry won the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle, Pearson won the 200 IM and 100 backstroke, and Black won both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle.
Zoe Yeaton won the 100 butterfly and combined with Cherry, Pearson and Black to win the 400 freestyle relay. Salena Bradigan, Pearson, Brittney Day and Black won the 200 freestyle relay.
Yeaton added a second in the 200 IM and Kassie Markel placed second in the 100 breaststroke.
