Mrs. Constance E. Walker, age 85, of 1008 Clay Ave., Tyrone died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006 at 10:15 a.m. at the Tyrone Hospital.
She was born June 22, 1920 in Tyrone, the daughter of Harry Thomas and Mary A. Morgan Eckert Sr.
On March 4, 1943, she was married to Meryn D. Walker who preceded her in death in 1969.
She is survived by three daughters, Marjorie Walker of Tyrone; Barbara, wife of Ronald Shunk of Gettysburg and Susan, wife of E. Preston Rice of Tyrone; three grandchildren- Reagan, wife of Andrew Biesecker of New Oxford, PA and Stephanie and Jared Rice, both of Tyrone; four great-grandchildren- Anais, Caleb and Samuel Biesecker and Ebonee Rice. Also surviving is a sister, Marjorie Barr of Tyrone.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Eckert.
Mrs. Walker was a graduate of Tyrone High School Class of 1938 and the Bryn Mawr Hospital School of Nursing and received her B.S. degree from Shippensburg University.
She had served as a school nurse in the Tyrone Area School District, retiring in 1986 after 26 years service.
She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. She loved animals and especially enjoyed her cats.
She was concerned about animal welfare.
Funeral service for Constance E. Walker will be Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home with Reverend Andrew T. Bradley officiating.
Interment will be in Eastlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 1650 Clay Avenue, Tyrone, PA 16686.
