Francis L. “Bus” Moore, 87, of 1011 Mt. Vernon Ave., Huntingdon, formerly of Cameron Ave., Tyrone, died Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at 3:10 a.m. at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon.
He was born February 13, 1918 in Tyrone, a son of Homer and Margaret (Woomer) Moore. On December 16, 1944 in Tyrone he married Margaret E. Halleran.
Surviving are his wife; three sons: James F. of Huntingdon, Patrick M. and Timothy J., both of Baltimore, Maryland; a daughter, Colleen M. Neville of Huntingdon; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a sister, Dorothy Kinch of Linglestown.
Mr. Moore retired in 1981 from the Tyrone Borough Treatment Plant serving as an operator following 20 years service. He was formerly employed at Chicago Rivet, Tyrone for 10 years.
He was a member of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Huntingdon, a life member of the Standing Stone VFW Post No. 1754, Huntingdon, a member of the former Tyrone Gardner Guards, the Marine Corp League and was a former member of the Tyrone Borough Council.
He was a US Marine Corp veteran of WWII serving as a Supply Sergeant with the 1st Marine Division in the South Pacific theatre. He was in battles at Guadalcanal, Cape Glouster and at Peleiu.
Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, February 10, 2006 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Tyrone with Fr. David T. Arseneault and Fr. Joseph T. Orr, Celebrants. Interment with full military honors accorded by the Ebensburg Marine Corps Reserve will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Feller Memorial Home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Vigil services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 8 p.m.
