Calvin C. (Ookie) Cox, 78, of 310 Park Ave. Tyrone, died February 11, 2006 at his home.
Born April 25, 1927, the son of J. Byron and Audrey E. (Troxell) Cox, he married Carol Jean (Musser) who died March 27, 1995.
He was a member of the Church of the Brethren of Tyrone. He was also a member of the VFW, Hookies Fire Co. where he was a chief, Central District Firemen’s Assn. and the Tyrone Sportsman Assn. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his dog, Terry.
He retired after 43 years at Westvaco, Tyrone. He had served in the U.S. Navy in the European Theatre.
He is survived by a special companion, Marcia Warnock; three daughters: Darlene Grimm of Bloomville, OH, Cathy Shoenberger and Judy Wiser, both of Tyrone; three sons: David of Bellwood, Robert of Fayetteville, NC and Fred of Tyrone; three sisters: Jean Wilson, Doris Garber and Nancy McEwen; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Marilouise Sweitzer.
At the request of the deceased there will be no public viewing. Arrangements by the S. Gerald Weaver Funeral Home.
