Robert A. “Gee” Foust, Sr., 81, of Bellwood died Sunday evening, April 23, 2006 at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.
He was born December 10, 1924 in Tyrone, a son of the late Byron and Mae (Allison) Foust. He married Mary A. Nanouski on March 3, 1951 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Altoona.
Mr. Foust is survived by his wife; daughter: Nancy J. Davinsizer and husband Dan of Bellwood; son, Steven M. and wife Cindy of Midlothian, Va.; grandchildren: Deanna Garr and husband Matthew, Krista Cogan and husband Michael and Mark Steven Foust; step-grandchildren: Frank and Laura Crowley; great grandson, Tyler Daniel Garr; sisters: Eleanor Fisher and husband James of Warriors Mark and Marion Reed and husband, William of Tyrone.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert A. Jr.; brothers: Vic, Ted, Ken and Barney and a sister Charlotte Foust.
Mr. Foust retired in 1988 as a quality control inspector at Veeder-Root Co., Altoona.
He was a Navy Veteran serving during World War II.
Mr. Foust was inducted into the Tyrone Area Sports Hall of Fame, Class of 2001 for his selection as the first team all state end class of 1942. He was a member of the Tyrone Area Monogram Club and also the Bavarian Aid Society.
He was an avid fan of Tyrone Area High School and Bellwood-Antis High School sports programs. He enjoyed all sports and was a fan of Penn State football and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Mr. Foust coached for many years in the Bellwood-Antis little league baseball program.
He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandson.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26 at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2006 at the Funeral Home with Rev. David H. Roesch officiating.
Committal will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
