Omega Bank in Port Matilda was robbed Saturday morning at 9:45.
State police said a man entered the bank on High Street and demanded a specific amount of money in specific denominations. The teller thought the man was joking.
At that point, the man grabbed an object that was concealed under his sweatshirt and again made his demands. The teller thought the man might be armed and complied with his demands.
The suspect then fled on foot in a southerly direction on High Street. The suspect was observed wearing a gray sweatshirt and blue jeans. He was described as in his late 20s to early 30s, between five-feet six and five-feet ten, weighing between 130 and 160 lbs. with brown eyes and short, dark brown hair.
Police were examining surveillance cameras to obtain a photograph of the suspect. Authorities are continuing their investigation. Anyone with information on the robbery should contact Philipsburg-based state police at 342-3370.
