The Tyrone Hospital Development Council announced it has donated $8,000 to the Keystone Headache and Pain Management Center at Tyrone Hospital to assist with the purchase of software to develop electronic medical records.
Randy Miles, Sr., Chairman of the Development Council, made the announcement and presentation on behalf of the council at a ribbon cutting ceremony held recently for the pain management center.
Miles said the Development Council had a surplus and was evaluating projects within the hospital to support.
“We wanted to use the dollars to support a project that was growing and contributing to the development of the hospital,” said Miles.
In recent months the Keystone Headache and Pain Management Center has noted growth in number of patients treated, expanded its services to include radio frequency treatment and a headache clinic and it is developing plans to implement additional services to further meet the community’s needs. The pain management center is also preparing to implement electronic medical records.
“The council is pleased to be able to support the Keystone Headache and Pain Management Center as it develops an electronic system to document patient care,” said Miles. “We understand that development of electronic documentation is a goal for the broad healthcare industry and we are pleased to be able to help our local hospital move in that direction. It will streamline operations for providers and allow information to be exchanged more quickly to support patient care.”
Since its inception six years ago, the Development Council has supported many services within the hospital through purchase of capital equipment.
“We are pleased we can also extend support to the hospital’s pain management center,” said Miles.
Miles said the Development Council will announce additional projects it will support in the near future.
The Development Council’s mission is to support the community via support of Tyrone Hospital. The Council raises funds through a variety of events each year and donates the funds to help purchase capital equipment.
Miles said the Council is currently preparing for its annual golf tournament, its largest fund raising event.
“Supporting Development Council events is one way people in the community can support Tyrone Hospital,” said Miles. “We welcome any golfers, sponsors or items that can be used as prizes for our golf event.”
