Mrs. Sylvia J. Hunter, 74, of 1505 Penna. Ave., Tyrone, died Sunday morning, July 9, 2006 at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care.
She was born Feb. 27, 1932 in Tyrone, a daughter of Edward Reed and Ruth Louise (Waite) Krider.
She was married to Donald Foster Hunter, Sr. who died Feb. 14, 1989.
She is survived by 10 sons and daughters: Donald Hunter, Jr. (Susan) of Tyrone, Jeffrey Hunter (Lexie) of Tyrone, Sharon Kimberling (Robert F.) of Tyrone, Barbara Oswald of Altoona, Roger Hunter of Tyrone, Brad Hunter of Tyrone, Virgil Hunter (Joy) of Tyrone, Barry Hunter (Heather) of Tyrone, Larry Hunter (Cris) of Warriors Mark and Scott Hunter (Sheila) of Carlisle; 34 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and two brothers and three sisters: Gary Krider (Helen) of Port Matilda, John Krider (Betty) of Bellwood, Arleen Hartsock of North Carolina, Shirley Riggleman of Tyrone and Gloria Krider of Williamsburg.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Edward “Sonnie” Krider and sisters Betty Miller and Patty Krider.
She was a member of the Tyrone Church of the Good Shepherd where she was active in the church outreach program and co-ordinator of Childrens Ministry in Tyrone.
She was a graduate of Tyrone High School Class of 1950.
Her favorite times were with her family and her church.
She was last employed at Ames Dept. Store and previously at Big Yank Corp., Marianna Foods, Clerk in the Tyrone Boro Police Office, and Wal-Mart in State College.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 13, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Tyrone Church of the Good Shepherd with Pastor Andrew Bradley officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
Friends will be received at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and one hour at the church before services.
Contributions in her memory may be given to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 1650 Clay Ave., Tyrone, Pa. 16686.
