The Tyrone Hospital Development Council has announced its fund raising project for fiscal year 2006-2007.
Randy Miles, Sr., Chairman of the Development Council reported that all funds raised by the Council this year will be used to purchase orthopedic surgical equipment for Tyrone Hospital.
The hospital orthopedic service expanded recently with the addition of Dr. Chris McClellan of University Orthopedics Center in Altoona, to the hospital’s medical staff. The equipment the Council purchases will allow doctors to do a wider variety of orthopedics cases and as well as upgrade some the current equipment.
Miles said expansion of the hospital’s orthopedic service means people of all ages can get orthopedic care locally.
“If your child tumbles and breaks a bone or if an elderly member of our community breaks a hip joint, it is comforting to know we have orthopedic specialists available right here to meet their needs.”
Miles said one way people can support Tyrone Hospital is by supporting Development Council events.
The Development Council conducts several fund raisers each year to benefit Tyrone Hospital, its largest being the annual golf tournament. This year’s golf event will be held at the Sinking Valley Country Club on August 23.
The Council is currently seeking golfers, sponsors and prize donations for the event. Golfers can choose either a morning or afternoon flight. The event will also include an all day cook-out and there will be prize opportunities at select holes. Tickets can also be purchased by non-golfers who wish to attend the all day cook out, for a donation of $20.
Sponsorship opportunities for the golf tournament are as follows:
• Corporate Sponsor of $1,500 includes signage at the course, fee for a team of four;
• Course Sponsor of $750 includes signage at the course and fee for a team of four;
• Tee/Green Sponsor of $300 and
• Fee for a four person golf team of $300.
Miles said others who work with him on the Council include Marcie Lewis, Donna Isenberg, Sunda Baney, Theresa Yanchetz and Walter Van Dyke.
