The Tyrone Area Chamber of Commerce has announced that the First Blair County National Bank is the next in the series of Hometown Collectibles.
The back of the collectible reads, “Blair County National Bank was built in 1891 at One West Tenth Street. Established in 1874 as a private bank (Garman Building), it was Federally chartered in 1902 and merged with First National Bank (Jones Building) in 1932.
“The original top of the building was removed in 1952, and the adjoining building (Ben Crampton’s Barber Shop) was purchased. In 1986 the bank merged with Mid State Bank and Trust, which merged with Keystone Financial in 1999. In the year 2000 it became M & T Bank. The exterior was restored in 1992.”
The collectibles sell for $15 each and are available at the Chamber office, Gardners Candy, Monika’s Cards and Gifts and Chic Salon. For more information, contact Rose Black at 684-0736.
Other collectibles available at the Chamber office include: Pennsylvania Railroad Station, Tyrone High School, First National Bank Building, The Villa Restaurant and Wilson Theatre.
