The Fun Friday series would not be complete without the Music and Magic of Dennie Huber.
Veteran performer, Dennie Huber, brings his unique blend of song and slight of hand to Tyrone\’s City Hotel Park at 7 p.m. this evening. An Altoona native, Dennie has been entertaining since the age of 12. He is a member of the International Brotherhood of Musicians and has received numerous awards for his work with local charities. Although he likes to bill himself as \”larger than life\” due to his imposing size, Dennie has one of the sweetest voices any audience will hear.
His carefully constructed mix of magic and music makes for a wonderful experience for audiences of all ages. In the event of rain, the Fun Friday concerts will be held in the Tyrone Community Players Building on Tenth Street and Logan Avenue.
Reservoir Park will again be jumping to the music of the big band era as the Summer Sunday series presents “The Big Band Sound, Incorporated” at 6 p.m. Sunday on the amphitheater stage.
This talented group of 17 musicians from a four county area is a blend of players with years of combined training and experience which is evident with their amazing sound and smooth style. With a repertoire of over 300 musical arrangements, the BBS, Inc. uses the full instrumentation of the original big bands, but has added the more up to date electric bass. This season’s program, entitled “Miller, Mancini, and More” promises to be a delight for all by playing arrangements from such greats as Glenn Miller, Henry Mancini, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Manhattan Transfer and many others.
The Big Band Sound, Incorporated, performs throughout Central Pennsylvania including the People’s Choice Festival in Boalsburg and Raystown Lake Amphitheater. Summer Sunday concerts begin at 6 p.m. and, in the event of rain, will be held in the Lutheran Church on Logan Avenue and Tenth Street.
All concerts are made possible by a grant from the PA Council on the Arts, a state agency, the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency and Tyrone Borough.
