M. Yvonne Richards, 81, of Franklinville, died Wednesday, August 2, 2007 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, from cancer.
Born February 16, 1926, in Tyrone, she was the daughter of the late Wilbert D. McIlvaine and Mabel Goss McIlvaine.
In the Spruce Creek United Methodist Church, she married L. Smith Richards on June 6, 1981. He preceded her in death January 13, 2004.
She was a 1945 graduate of Warriors Mark-Franklin High School. After years of working at Murata Electronics, State College, she progressed to a quality control inspector until her retirement in 1988.
She was a member of the Franklinville Methodist Church until it closed in 1958, and since then has been a member of Spruce Creek United Methodist Church.
‘Bonnie’ enjoyed years of traveling and camping with her husband and also had great enjoyment in taking care of her flowers and feeding the wild birds.
She is survived by three step-sons, Larry S. Richards of rural Tyrone, Steven E. Richards of Julian and Wayne L. Richards of Port Matilda. She is also survived by two cousins and their wives: Frank and Barbara Henry and Ronald and Marion Henry, who were her caregivers and support throughout her cancer treatments for the past sixteen months.
A private viewing and funeral will be at the convenience of the family with Pastor Bernie Bookhammer, Spruce Creek United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Franklinville Cemetery, Franklin Township.
