Tyrone's junior high girls basketball team is trying to find come up with an identity. Last night at Indian Valley they took a giant step toward that goal with a 20-16 win over the Lady Warriors.
Tyrone was ahead early on as Ariane Miller (four points) upped her game a click and Casey Baird (eight points) who keeps plugging along, put the Tyrone team 8-6 after one period.
Ashley Ford added four points before halftime and Tyrone led 14-10 at the break.
Indian Valley scored the only 2 points of the third period and made a frantic comeback in the fourth to get to within two points.
A steal by Miller and another by Baird sealed the deal as Baird finished her night with a game clinching layup with :11 seconds left. Tyrone is now 2-4 on the year and will play at Huntingdon next Tuesday.
Tyrone's "B" team won its third in a row with a convincing 13-8 margin.
Ivy Tangen and Emily Brokenshire stepped up their game in the post as the Lady Eagles out pointed IV.
