Some would say it was beginners luck, while others would hazard that it was just pure skill, but whatever the reason, newcomer Rob Johnson of Mt. Holly Springs, is the winner at the latest BassMasters Club tournament, held at Raystown Dam, on Sept. 24.
Johnson outfished all the others on a tough day on the lake. Strong winds and rain made fishing very difficult.
Johnson had three fish, good for 4.55 pounds to capture the trophy. Rick Bradford of Bald Eagle was second with two fish weighing 2.67 pounds with only two contestants pulling in more than one fish.
Metz Weko of Water Street was third with one fish weighing in at 2.05 pounds, followed by Jim Kaspick, who had his three tournament winning streak broken was fourth (1.31 pounds), Dan Garber of Tyrone was fifth (1.20) and Ed Henderson of Warriors Mark was sixth (.99).
Rob Johnson also was the “Lunker” winner with 2.55 pounds.
The next tournament is at Deep Creek, MD, on Oct. 1.
