Betty Ann Rhodes, 78, of Grazierville died Saturday morning, October 7, 2006 at her home.
She was born January 12, 1928 in Tyrone a daughter of Charles and Margaret (Rodgers) Kerchner. She was married to David C. Rhodes on March 26, 1948 by the Rev. Robert Hutchinson at the First Presbyterian Church, Tyrone. He died November 1, 2002.
Surviving are two daughters, Deborah Bressler and husband G. Charles of Tyrone, Barbara Cherry and husband Craig of Tyrone, two grandsons Ryan A. Bressler and Garrett D. Rhodes, a sister Helen L. Beckwith of Tyrone and special friends Elsie and Gary Bougher of RD5, Tyrone. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Estella Butler, Millie Henry and Carolyn Kerchner.
Mrs. Rhodes was a longtime faithful member of the Grazierville United Methodist Church where she was church greeter for many years giving all a smile and a warm welcome. She also had been a member of the church administration council and was secretary for the Win One Class.
She was a member of the Howard Gardner American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was a 1945 graduate of Tyrone High School. She was formerly employed at Big Yank and McClanahan’s Drug Store, Tyrone.
Betty was known for her sense of humor and in particular her laughter. She was a great cook with her fudge and creme puffs being her specialty. She was meticulous with her yard and home where she was happiest most when with her family and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Feller Memorial home with Pastor Michelle Somerville officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
