Photography is a representation of how the photographer views the world. Douglas Castagnola, the current artist featured at the Gallery located in the Tyrone-Snyder Public Library, has been viewing the world through his lens since he was a student at Tyrone High School.
A recent graduate of Pennsylvania State University in the College of Arts and Architecture, Doug’s area of concentration was photography. Although Doug enjoys photographing a variety of subjects, he has always had an enthusiasm for photographs that reflect his love of nature. As a student at Penn State, Castagnola also developed a passion for creating photographs in black and white.
Castagnola’s work has been featured in many area exhibits including three-dimensional pieces on the campus of Penn State Altoona and the Tyrone Hospital Art Exhibit 2005 series. Most recently Doug displayed a hand crafted photographic book and two photo collages as part of an exhibit on the University Park campus at Penn State. He has also done work for area organizations, including Faces and Places Ministries. The current exhibit may be viewed during library hours through January 20, 2007.
For more information on the artist and Gallery hours, please contact the Tyrone-Snyder Library at 684-1133. Gallery exhibits are sponsored by the Tyrone Regional Arts Council and made possible by a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency, the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, and Tyrone Borough.
