Tyrone\’s seventh grade basketball team played rival Bellwood-Antis saturday afternoon at the Building II in Altoona.
The Eagles matched up in man defense the entire game, with the Blue Devils caming out in a 2-1-2 zone.
The Little Eagles jumped all over the Blue Devils early on as Tyrone\’s Richard Crabtree hit a pair of three-pointers in the first two possessions of the game and had a game high 10 points, and Kaleb Chronister who scored eight points and had the Eagle\’s on fire.
Offensively the Eagles had a balanced attack of scoring from Steve Franco six, Nick Patton five, and Jared Schaffer four points.
Tyrone led comfortably 23-10 at the half, but the Blue Devils would not lay down and fought their way back into the game cutting the Eagles lead to 25-20 with 6 minutes to play on a 10-0 run.
The Eagles committed 12 turnovers the entire game, 10 in the second half, but it was the Tyrone man defense that contained the Bellwood-Antis offense this afternoon as Tyrone 12-2 overall went on to victory 37-23.
Tyrone\’s next game is Saturday February 3, at 5:00 p.m. against Bishop Guilfoyle at the Building II in Altoona.
