In a crowd of teenagers, Vanessa Campagna is no different. She goes to school, loves to go shopping and lives to hang out with her friends. But put her on stage behind a microphone and in front of a large crowd and you have one very young, yet mature performer. Her explosive stage personality has made her a fan favorite and has catapulted her into national attention. She has performed with some of the greatest artists in the music industry such as Reba, Wynona, Tricia Yearwood, Vince Gill, Clint Black, and Dierks Bentley. She has also performed with rockers Rick Springfield and Donnie Iris. Vanessa has also performed with some of television’s hottest young actors and musicians such as Drake Bell from the \”Drake and Josh Show\” on Nickelodeon and Aaron Carter, Everlife, and Triple Image from the Disney Channel.
Her poise and grace has gained her respect among some of the country’s top symphonies. So much so, she has toured on numerous occasions with award winning composer/conductor Marvin Hamlisch and various symphonies including the National Symphony in Washington, D.C., the Buffalo Philharmonic Symphony and the world renowned Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. In fact, last May, Marvin Hamlisch and Vanessa, along with seven-time Grammy winner Roberta Flack, performed in honor of First Lady Laura Bush at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Washington, D.C. The event was hosted by Kuwaiti Royalty and attended by many members of the Cabinet, Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, Secretary of state Condoleeza Rice and Hollywood greats Mike and father, Kirk Douglas.
Vanessa returns to Tyrone after performing this past summer for East End Pizza\’a 50th Anniversary Block Party.
According to Vanessa, \”Tyrone\’s a great place for me to perform. The people of Tyrone, especially Chuck Banas and his family, are always so nice and very supportive of me and I feel very comfortable there.\”
She added, \”Oh, and the pizza at East End is awesome.\”
Vanessa was 10 when she first appeared in Tyrone. She is now 14 and her show is more powerful than ever. She will sing a few cover songs and also some of her own music, including one song in particular, \”Daddy\’s Little Girl,\” that Marvin Hamlisch said is \”A song the entire world needs to hear.\”
The sixth annual library fundraising event is a little over a month away, and there is lots of work taking place to get everything ready for a great evening of entertainment.
\”Where else can you go to get a tremendous evening of first class entertainment and at the same time know that the ticket that you purchased is going towards keeping the Tyrone-Snyder Township Public Library open for another year,\” said concert chairman Chuck Banas.
Tickets are on sale currently at all three ticket locations in downtown Tyrone. These locations are Bressler Food Mart & Sports, Kopp Drug and the Tyrone-Snyder Township Public Library. Tickets may also be purchased through the mail by calling the library at a special number 682-1017.
\”I am thrilled at what has happened with our concert series. I just recently learned that our concerts have made the web page of Richard Nader in Clearwater, Florida. Mr. Nader is the man when it comes to the oldies concerts and to make his web page with our concert date and information is just a tremendous feather in our hat as well as the entire community. You just do not get noticed by Richard Nader unless you are doing something very right,\” said Banas.
Thanks to the addition of Richard Nader\’s web page, the library has now sold telephone tickets to folks coming in from Lancaster, Pheonixville, outside of Philadelphia, Harrisburg and Pittsburgh.
\”We are still a month away from our concert date and we are at five hundred tickets sold,\” said a very pleased Chuck Banas.
The show is set for Saturday evening, April 21. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the show will start promptly at 7 p.m. All seating is reserved and the cost of the tickets is $30. If you are looking for a great way to spend a Saturday evening and enjoy what has become one of the best concerts to be put on in this area, then you will want to be in the Tyrone High School auditorium that Saturday evening.
