For several years now, Emmanuel Baptist Church, located on 10th Street in downtown Tyrone, has been providing fun-filled concert and movie nights for area residents to enjoy.
After hearing about a movie night held by a congregation in another community, Emmanuel Baptist Church began researching and several years ago purchased a copyright license which lists certain production companies. Under this license, the church is allowed to show certain movies if they do not charge a fee to the viewers.
Church members try to choose movies without vulgarity or explicit content so that the movie night can be fun for the whole family.
This Friday, August 17, the church will host is final concert and movie of the summer in the M&T lot next to Radio Shack.
The night will kick off at 7:30 p.m. when the Emmanuel Baptist Church Praise and Worship team presents a concert of contemporary Christian music.
Following the concert, the movie will begin.
This movie’s description says, “The action heats up – and so does the temperature – for Manny, Sid, Diego and Scrat. Tyrone to escape the valley to avoid a flood of trouble, the comical creatures embark on a hilarious journey across the thawing landscape and meet Ellie, a female woolly mammoth who melts Manny’s heart.”
Along with the entertainment, there will also be refreshments and lots of prizes.
Interested individuals are asked to bring a lawn chair or blanket and come out and enjoy an evening of inspirational music, a great movie and lots of family fun.
Emmanuel Baptist Church meets for Bible study/Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. with praise and worship at 10:30 a.m. Interested individuals can also inquire about a small group Bible study schedule.
