Harry E. “Woody” Dickson, 82, of Baldwinsville died Sunday, June 10, 2007 peacefully at the Francis House.
He was an Army Veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of the Baldwinsville First Presbyterian Church and a member of the Baldwinsville Rod and Gun Club.
He retired in 1989 from General Electric in Syracuse as a Radar Specialist after 32 years of service.
He was a scout master, serving Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years in Buffalo, Ithaca and Onondaga County.
He was the original chairman the Lysander Parks and Recreation.
He was instrumental in the first re-introduction of wild turkey to Thompkins and Cortland County areas.
He was pre-deceased by his son Lynn E. who died in 1966 and his parents Frank and Cathrine (Herzog) Dickson.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jane; one daughter, Beverly Sherman of VA; two sons, Dennis (Karen) of MD. and Brian (Cathy) of Baldwinsville; two sisters, Lorena Lannen of FL. and Shirley Ann Dickson of PA; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Baldwinsville First Presbyterian Church, 64 Oswego Street.
Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2007 from 4-7 p.m. at Gates Funeral Home, Inc., 29 West Genesee Street, Baldwinsville.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Baldwinsville First Presbyterian Church, 64 Oswego Street, Baldwinsville, 13027, or a favorite charity of choice.
