On September 29, a beautiful pendant will be raffled off at the Eighth Annual Celebration for Life picnic and auction at the Lancaster Liederkranz.
Each year the Circle of Hope pendant is designed by Cory Clites and donated by KNS Fine Jewelry, Lancaster. All proceeds from the ticket sales for this pendant go toward helping send children with cancer to Camp Can Do.
While the raffle will be held in Lancaster, tickets are available online at www.c4life.org at a cost of $10 or three for $25.
This year’s pendant has an estimated value of $3,000 and as in each previous year, was designed by eleven-year-old Cory Clites.
The son of Katy and Bob Clites, Jr., Cory’s grandparents are Bob and Kay Clites of Tyrone.
Cory learned a lot about jewelry and gems, having been taught by his mother who is a certified gemologist and owner of The Gallery at Katy’s in Lancaster.
Cory begins his design process by sketching his ideas and said it took three days to create this year’s design.
Celebration for Life Inc. (C4Life) is a fund-raising organization for cancer-related research, education and support. The group’s two simple but important goals are to raise money for the fight against cancer and have fun doing it.
In 2006, $20,500 was raised for cancer education, research and patient support services.
To date, C4Life has raised $79,000 for the Lancaster County Unite of the American Cancer Society.
