Helen Louise Dunkel, 73, of Boalsburg, died Thursday, August 30, 2007 at the Fairways at Brookline Village.
Born October 21, 1933 in Northwood near Tyrone, she was a daughter of the late Joseph M. and Jessie A. Estright Smith. On June 1, 1953 she married Lee J. Dunkel Jr., who survives her.
She was a 1951 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. She was a secretary at Penn State, working in several different departments.
She was a former member of St. John’s Methodist Church, State College, and a member of the Eastern Star. She was a talented seamstress.
She and her husband had Lee and Helen Dunkel Collectibles.
She is survived by two daughters, Cindy S. Dunkel of Pine Grove Mills and Donna L. Quaranta and her husband, John, of Boalsburg; two grandchildren, Louis Quaranta and Lindsey M. Cramer; a great-granddaughter, Kendall R. Cramer; two brothers, Daniel Smith of Tyrone and Jack Smith and his wife, Debbie, of Sandy Ridge and two sisters, Nancy Walk and her husband, Sonny, of Houston, Tex. and Joy Kay Peters of Altoona.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Karen L. Williams on June 6, 1978 and several siblings.
Visitation will be Monday, September 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 4 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Carl D. Campbell officiating.
Burial will be in the Boalsburg Cemetery.
