The Tyrone Salvation Army Service Center will be taking applications for Christmas food baskets and toys on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, October 30, 31 and November 1 at its building located at 908 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Times for taking applications will be 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and in the evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. all three days.
The Tyrone Salvation Army will not be accepting any applications after those three days because food orders will be sent in Friday, November 2.
Applications will only be accepted in the following area codes: 16686, 16617, 16877, 16684 and 16865.
It is very important that applicants bring the necessary paper work to show family means of support and papers showing all monthly expenses. Applicants must have all paper work or will be asked to come back.
Along with helping those in need at Christmas time, the Tyrone Salvation Army helps those in need with their household bills and is able to furnish clothing and food items.
The Tyrone Salvation Army always accepts clothing and food items. It also accepts appliances, bedding, etc.
Store hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Tyrone Salvation Army volunteer chairperson is Bob Maser.
Monetary contributions can be mailed to: Salvation Army Service Center, P.O. Box 142 Tyrone, PA 16686 and can be dropped off at the 908 Pennsylvania Avenue location. The phone number is 684-1664.
And remember, those wishing to apply for Christmas food baskets and toys must do so Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, October 30, 31 and November 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
