Harassment
On October 14, state police reported that Amy J. Clemens, 36, Altoona entered a residence along Grandview Rd., Antis Township and began arguing with her husband, Harry W. Clemens, 75, Altoona. Mrs. Clemens used obscenities towards Mr. Clemens and struck him on the left side of the facial area with two plastic 20 ounce soda bottles. The soda bottles were full of fluid at the time. Mrs. Clemens was charged with summary harassment.

Vehicles stolen
State police reported on October 20 that actors entered a fenced area to the rear of Hines Equipment in Bellwood and removed a Kubota RTV wheeled vehicle and a Cub Cadet wheeled vehicle. The vehicles were driven from the scene. Two other similar vehicles and a tractor were damaged, as well as a section of fencing. The Kubota was recovered in a wooded area near Reightown on the following day. The Cub Cadet is still missing. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call PA State Police at 696-6100.

Disorderly conduct
A 17-year-old known male juvenile was charged with harassment and disorderly conduct after attempting to provoke a fight inside the Bellwood Sheetz store with Joshua D. Parson, 21, Tyrone. State police stated that both individuals were instructed by the store manager to leave the premises immediately. As the male juvenile was attempting to leave, Parson used his Ford Ranger to block the juvenile’s vehicle from leaving. Parson was charged with disorderly conduct in this incident.

Sling shot mischief
On October 26-27, state police reported unknown actor(s) pulled up in front of numerous businesses and shot silver ball bearings from a sling shot into the businesses’ front windows or door windows shattering the glass in the windows. Those businesses included: Dollar General Store, Bellwood; Degol Brothers Lumber, Altoona; Bellmeade Dry Cleaning Village, Altoona; Joe’s Place, Tyrone; Tyrone Hospital (Building 4 and 5), Tyrone; and Spangler Motors building, Tyrone. Approximately $4,000 in damage occurred to the victims’ windows.

DUI related crash
State police reported on October 27 David A. Chathams, 19, Tyrone was traveling south on SR 453, north of Tyrone Boro, when he failed to negotiate a right curve in the roadway. The vehicle began to slide when he applied the brakes, which caused him to lose control. The vehicle impacted an embankment on the west side of the roadway before rolling over onto its side. Chathams was not wearing his seat belt and was taken to the Altoona Trauma Center for treatment of injuries he suffered. Two passengers, RyanLee M. Bowman, 20 and Charles A. Sternberg, 19 both of Tyrone, were taken to the Tyrone Hospital via ambulance for treatment of their injuries. Bowman and Sternberg also were not wearing seat belts. Chathams was subsequently arrested for DUI and other related charges.
