Mrs. Joyce O. Nowlin, 75, of Clay Avenue, Tyrone, died Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 9:40 a.m. at the Tyrone Hospital.
She was born August 10, 1932 in Germantown, the daughter of Horace and Laura Elizabeth Gripp Osborne and in 1955 she was married to Samuel M. Nowlin who preceded her in death January 1, 1992.
She is survived by three daughters: Kathy E. Simmons of Clearfield, Molly Grove (Robert) of Alexandria, Pa. and Amy Jo (Mark Moore) of Tyrone and one brother, Ronald Osborne of Tyrone.
She was preceded in death by a son, Andrew in 1967.
Also surviving are grandchildren: Crystal Simmons of State College, Autumn Spotts of Julian, Amy Grove of State College, Derrick Moore of Tyrone and Jessica Moore of Lumberton, NC; five great-grandchildren: Johanna, Adra, Alivia, Alexis and Haley and a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Joyce was a member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church and a graduate of Tyrone High School class of 1950. She was a member of Chief Logan Questers, had served as a church trustee, Sunday school teacher and as a member of the kitchen crew.
When she lived in Warriors Mark she had served as a Sunday school teacher. For over thirty years she had been employed as Tyrone area news anchor and as the billing clerk for the Allegheny Mountain Network, WTRN Tyrone.
Funeral service for Joyce O. Nowlin will be Monday, July 28, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Reverend Norman E. Huff officiating.
Private interment will be at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
