The Tyrone Area School District support staff, including cafeteria, custodial, clerical and paraprofessional workers, recently voted to unionize with the Pennsylvania State Educators Association.
The support staff reportedly decided to organize a union in hopes of better wages and benefits, similar to other school districts in the area.
Out of 121 eligible voters, 72 voted in favor of the action.
After the bylaws are completed, the union will meet to elect officers and representatives.
