When the George B. Kelley Federation baseball game between Martin Oil and Locker Room was stopped because of rain and lightning on June 23, the host Hollidaysburg-based team had just struck with some lightning of their own to take a 2-1 lead, and the bottom of the fourth had just begun with a three-ball- two strike count on their first batter.
Martin Oil was down a run and a new pitcher would have to throw a strike on the first pitch or walk the leadoff hitter, when the game was continued on Tuesday.  Martin Oil hurler Chad Coho was equal to the task, throwing two straight strikes, actually. The first was fouled back, the second resulted in a strikeout and Coho allowed just one unearned run over the final four innings.
Trey Mock and Jimmy Watters led off the top of the fifth with singles for Martin Oil and Nate Gray and Justin Manning each drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to give Coho a lead he never surrendered.
Each team added an unearned run in the sixth, with Locker Room’s scoring on a throwing error with two outs, and Martin Oil scoring on an error and a two-out double by Mock.
“We were able to score in our first at-bat today to take back the lead and Chad Coho pitched great baseball to squeak out the win,” said Martin Oil manager Ed Davis.
In the regularly scheduled nightcap, Martin Oil scored nine times in the first three innings and cruised to a 10-5 win to improve to 13-7, with four more games to go, before playoffs start.
Mock limited Locker Room to two runs, one earned over five innings, before he tired, with six hits, nine strikeouts and six walks. Nate Gray pitched the sixth, allowing two runs, both unearned on a pair of miscues by his defense, and Justin Miller closed out the game, allowing one run in the seventh on a base hit and two walks, with one strikeout.
Justin Manning got Martin Oil on the scoreboard in the first by leading off by getting hit by a pitch, stealing second and moving over to third on a throwing error by the catcher, and scoring on a single by twin Jake Manning.
In the second, Nate Plummer walked, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball. Justin Miller was safe on an error and came around to score on a wild pitch.
Alex Miller walked and scored on a Trey Mock double. Justin Manning singled, and stole second and Jake Manning walked.
Locker Room changed pitchers, and Gray was safe on an error, with Mock scoring on the play. Chad Coho got Justin Manning home with an RBI groundout.
An inning later, Jesse Davis slashed a double to right, and Mock walked. Justin Manning scored Davis on an RBI fielder’s choice. Jake Manning walked again, and Gray belted a double to drive in both Mannings.
Martin Oil added one more score in the bottom of the fifth. Gray singled, stole second base and scored on a base hit up the middle by Ian Pankoke.
“For a change, instead of falling behind by three or four runs, we were able to take the lead from the get-go in this one,” explained Martin Oil manager Ed Davis.
“Trey pitched a good four innings, before getting a little tired. Nate Gray pitched well, but his defense let him down and Justin Miller shut them down in the seventh for us.
“Jesse Davis and Zach Doyle both came off the bench to get base hits for us, which was nice. Trey Mock had a good day at the plate in the doubleheader, after what has been a tough season, hitting-wise, going four-for-five, with two doubles, a walk, and had an RBI in both games.”
Martin Oil travels to Vets Field on Thursday, for an 8 p.m. contest against ReMax Realty.
