Third and fourth grade students from Saint Matthew School in Tyrone took a historical tour of Tyrone to end the school year. They also were able to visit the museum and ended the day by walking to Grandview Cemetery. There they planted flowers on the graves of three men who perished in the Walter L. Main Circus train wreck on May 30, 1893 at McCann’s Crossing in Snyder Township. Those men were canvas men William Thomas Lee and Barney Multaney and a brakeman for the railroad, William Heverley. Local authority on the accident, Susie O’Brien, was also on hand to speak with the children. (The Daily Herald/Amanda Golden)
