Liquor Law violation
State police issued a report on Thursday that on January 24, 2008, the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement, District Enforcement Office No. 5, Altoona, stated that Burley’s restaurant on 954 Pennsylvania Avenue, Tyrone issued checks or drafts dated Jan. 24, 2008 in payment for purchases of malt or brewed beverages, when Burley’s had insufficient funds in, or credit with, the institution upon which drawn for the payment of such checks, which is in violation of Section 493(26) of the Liquor Code.
These charges will be brought before an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, the ALJ can also impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge brought. The ALJ can also mandate training for the license in an effort to educate them on the requirement of being a licensee.
