The 2008 Northern Blair County Recreation Center (NBRC) is in full swing. The Third/Fourth Grade Spring League plays on Thursdays and the Fifth/Sixth Grade League plays on Saturdays.
To quickly get caught up to date, in the Third/Fourth Grade Spring League, on the first playing date, March 13, Bellwood trimmed Friendly’s 22-16. Leading the winners were Jake Burch with nine points and Joey Padula with six, while Tyler Skelly had a game-high 10 points for Friendly’s and Aaron Worly added five markers, in the only game played.
In second week games, Bellwood handed Tyrone a 20-16 defeat, with Burch and Nathan Davis each scoring six points to lead Bellwood. Larry Kobuck led Tyrone with five points, and Jeff McNelis and Zack Soellner scored four points each.
In the second game, West Branch demolished Friendly’s 50-15 with Spade scoring 18 and Kody Trude adding 14. Tyler Skelly had eight points and Jake Dull three points for Friendly’s.
Finally in week three, on March 27, West Branch continued their high-powered offense taking the measure of Bellwood 33-20. Trude scored 12 for West Branch, and Austin Krise added eight. Nathan Davis led Bellwood with six points and Jake Burch, Corey Parson and Jarret Tanneyhill all scored four points.
In the second contest, in a low-scoring ballgame, Friendly’s overcame Tyrone 7-4. Aaron Worly, Tyler Skelly and Nick Owen each scored two points for the winners. Phoenix Farias and Jeff McNelis scored two points apiece for Tyrone.

The Northern Blair Rec Center Fifth/Sixth Grade Spring League opened with L.S, Fiore firing on all cylinders.
L.S. Fiore doubled up Tyrone 32-16 to open the league on March 8. G. Bearer scored 14 points and J. Brumbaugh added eight for Fiore. J. Miller scored eight points and D. McKeehen four points for Tyrone.
In the second game McCloskey Builders used 10 points from Owen Worthing and four from A. Livoti to defeat Bellwood 23-13. A. Bartlett had six points for Bellwood, and Casey Gray added four markers.
On March 15, L. S. Fiore bombed Bellwood 48-22 with G. Bearer pumping in 19 and C. J. Fulare 13. Bellwood was led by O. Worthing with 10 and C. Gray with eight points.
In the closest game of the night, McCloskey Builders downed Tyrone 39-32. I. Luther led the way for McCloskey Builders with 16 points and B. Chadbourn contributed nine. B. Gripp had 16 for Tyrone and J. Dorminy added six points.
On March 29, the scores were both very close. First, Owen Wolf, D. J. Kitt and Andrew Berger each scored four points to help McCloskey Builders edge Bellwood 20-18. Owen Worthing scored eight points and Casey Gray had six for Bellwood.
L. S. Fiore escaped the third week with another victory, but C. J. Fulare’s 12 points and eight each by Nick Fiore and Brendan Trybus were sorely needed in a 38-30 triumph over Tyrone. Brad Wirtner and Jordan Miller each scored 12 points for Tyrone.
