Keeping the streak going, the Tyrone Area High School junior varsity football team won their fifth straight game by lowering the boom on Lewistown 39-0, on the losers’ field on Monday evening.
After a scoreless opening quarter, the Eagles took the lead with the only score of the first half, when Zach Burke capped a drive with a six-yard run.
In the third quarter, the Eagles blew the game open by scoring four times.
Stevie Franco blasted one yard for a touchdown, and Kyle Ripka added the extra point kick, forthe first score. Ripka then grabbed a 39-yard pass from Nick Patton for a score, and Burke added runs of 17, and five for touchdowns, and Ripka kicked the PAT following Burke’s 17-yard score, to complete the 26-point explosion in the quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Burke, who rushed for 129 yards in the contest, added his fourth touchdown on a 41-yard jaunt, and Ripka booted the perfect placement.
The Tyrone defensive unit tossed their fourth shutout of the year, for the Golden Eagles, and intercepted five Lewistown passes, including two by Franco.
Tyrone (5-3) will complete their season at Gray-Vets Memorial Field on Monday at 6 p.m. against Penns Valley.
