On Saturday, April 5, the Women’s Club of Tyrone hosted its fourth annual dinner-dance/auction at the US Hotel in Hollidaysburg, to benefit the Tyrone Hospital emergency/triage area renovation.
This project will cost a minimum of $40,000 and the Women’s Club membership is pleased to announce that the dinner-dance/auction benefit raised $15,325 toward that goal.
Benefit organizers, Suzanne Bigelow-Cherry and Judy Norris stress that their goal could only be met because individual patrons, as well as businesses, craftsmen and corporations of Tyrone and surrounding areas, generously support this fundraising effort through their contributions.
The Women’s Club of Tyrone has a tradition of supporting the Tyrone Hospital that stretches back for decades beginning in the 1940s even before the opening of the hospital and amounts to more than $55,000 raised toward supplementing the hospital’s facilities and equipment.
Their fundraising efforts have resulted in a birthing room, isolettes, surgical equipment, physical therapy equipment, an outdoor solarium and waiting room furniture.
The Women’s Club spring dinner meeting, held at Burleys, was attended by Tyrone Hospital CEO Walter Van Dyke, who personally thanked the members for their fundraising efforts as he accepted a check on behalf of the Tyrone Hospital.
