The Daily Herald recently held its first ever “Beautiful Baby Contest”, and it was a huge success.
Proceeds from the contest will benefit the Tyrone Salvation Army Service Center.
The winner of the contest was Jamis Taylor Simondale, with 1,376 votes.
Jamis, who will be turning eight-weeks-old on Monday, is the daughter of Jenna Simondale and Nathaniel Woodring.
Grandparents are: James Simondale, Kelly and Mark McClellan and Terry and Leslie Woodring.
Great-grandparents are: Bill and Judy Taylor, Louise Simondale and Charles and Christine Postreich.
Prizes include a complimentary night’s stay at the Hampton Inn in Altoona and a $50 gift card to the Olive Garden in Altoona.
Also, a $25 deposit into a youth savings account through Reliance Bank, $75 studio portrait session at Elder Photography, $25 gift certificate to the Scrap Yard, $20 cake certificate for the Meadows in Greenwood and a baby’s first haircut certificate from Mane Street Salon.
Also, a silver cup, spoon and fork from Dorman Jewelry; Mother Goose and bedtime story books from Ollie’s; a wicker basket from Big Lots; a photo album, bank and blanket from Community Pharmacy; a plush blanket and bib from Kopp Drug; a plush animal from Baum Novelty; Johnson and Johnson products from Dollar General; balloons, baby snack set and wipes from G&P Dollar Stretcher and a photo frame, bath toys and rattle from Family Dollar.
