Borough council had the opportunity to officially meet “Vilo” last night at its October work session. Vilo is the borough’s K-9 Criminal/Drug Dog and is the latest weapon against drugs and crime for the Tyrone Police Department. Purchased through Operation Ourtown, Vilo is a 16 month old German Shepherd from the Czech Republic. Officer Matt Lutz is the dog handler and has been training with Vilo since July. Vilo will be on full-time duty for the borough by the first of the year. The community is welcomed to the Neighborhood Watch group meeting at the Joshua House Community Center tonight at 7 p.m., where Vilo will be on hand for a formal introduction.
