(Editor’s note: In partnership with the Tyrone Area School District, articles on area preschools will be featured every day this week in celebration of “The Week of the Young Child”.)
Saint Matthew Preschool is an option for parents who want the best for their children during the early years of learning. The children are instructed by Mrs. Danielle Harris, a certified teacher as well as a classroom aide, Mrs. Beth Kasic.
Some program highlights: kid writing, modeled writing, shared writing, phonemic awareness, letter, number and color recognition, skills to get students ready for Kindergarten, fine and gross motor skills, weekly jobs, book buddy projects, special days – movie, popcorn and pajama day – daily Bible stories and Bible story readings by guest speakers, art/craft projects, birthday and holiday celebrations, sharing bag day, music class with a certified music teacher, computer and library classes and much more.
Mrs. Harris attends the monthly Pre-K Counts Partnership meetings where area preschools are instructed on various curriculum components. Attending these meetings also helps to stay current on the latest educational strategies available in the area.
Saint Matthew’s offers a two, three, four or five-day program with the option of early morning drop off and after school care daycare.
Registration is going on now. Call Saint Matthew Parish center (814) 684-1480. You can also visit the web site at www.StMatthew-School.org.
