State Rep. Jerry Stern (R-Blair), with the assistance of Virgie Werner and Christ United Methodist Church in Tyrone, are planning to honor local Korean War veterans in a ceremony on May 25.
Korean War veterans living in northern Blair County are asked to contact Stern’s district office so they may be included in the program.
“I am asking anyone who served in the Korean War to please contact my office and let us know who you are so we may include you in the program and have the opportunity to properly thank you for your service to our country,” said Stern. “The men and women who fought for our country deserve to be honored and recognized by the Commonwealth for their military service. I look forward to taking part in this special program.”
Local Korean War veterans are asked to call Stern’s Tipton office at (814) 684-6092 with the following information: Name, home address, phone number, branch of service, rank and time of service. Veterans with Internet access can also submit their information at Jerry Stern.com. The deadline for submitting information is May 1.
Those who respond will be invited to attend a special event at 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, at Christ United Methodist Church in Tyrone. During the event veterans will be honored with a medal and a certificate of appreciation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
