DJ’s Cafe started a free Thanksgiving meal six years ago to help comfort and provide for the less fortunate in the community. They offer this service on Thanksgiving Day with their generous staff and many volunteers giving up time with their own families to keep this event alive. Meals consist of: roasted turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, candied yams, corn, cranberry sauce, roll and butter, dessert and milk. Every year, the staff and volunteers prepare all the meals on-site and then deliver them free of charge to families. This year, DJ’s Cafe owners, management and staff said they appreciated the support from the community and said everyone really came together to support the event. Over 500 meals were served yesterday for Thanksgiving. (The Daily Herald/Kris Yaniello)
