Yesterday, the community came out to support the area soldiers from Det. 1 Charlie Company 2-112th Infantry (SBCT) for what is expected to be the last deployment from the Tyrone Armory.
Today, the local National Guard troops will be deployed for training and then to the Middle East.
A special “sending off” was held yesterday, which was an opportunity for the entire community to honor the soldiers of the National Guard.
The streets were lined with people for the parade, and the football field bleachers were filled in overwhelming support for the ceremony.
At noon, the parade began at the Tyrone Armory and concluded at Gray-Veterans Field. Once at the field, a ceremony took place.
The 69 soldiers from Det. 1 Charlie Company 2-112th Infantry (SBCT) marched in the parade and participated in the ceremony.
Several area veterans also took part in the parade and ceremony.
One of the main speakers for the event was Samuel Hayes Jr., followed by his son, Lt. Col. Samuel Hayes III.
Afterwards, the Tyrone American Legion hosted a luncheon for the soldiers and their families.
