Domer E. “Butch” Hamer, 68, of 5255 Trout Run Lane, Spruce Creek, Pa. died Friday morning at the ARHS – Bon Secours Campus.
He was born August 20, 1940 in Huntingdon, Pa. a son of Earl John and Edna Catherine (Naylor) Hamer.
He was married August 18, 1966 to Romaine G. Carper who survives. Also sons Domer E. Hamer, Jr. (Tammy) of RD2 Tyrone and Keith W. Hamer (Dawn) and Aaron Hamer of RD5 Tyrone.
Grandchildren Alisha and Kaitlyn Hamer and Jennifer Stouffer. One great-grandson John Paul.
Brothers William and Robert Hamer of Port Matilda and Sidney Hamer (Ardis) and John Hamer of Spruce Creek. There are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers Harold and Dale.
He was of Presbyterian Faith, graduated from Juniata Valley High School in 1958 and served in the U.S. Army in Alaska for two years.
He was a member of the Tyrone Moose Lodge, Hookies Fire Co., American Legion No. 281, VFW No. 4559 and the Bellwood Eagles. He was a major Red Cross blood donor and enjoyed his many Canadian fishing trips and his Cadillac cars.
He had operated Hamer’s Garage at 105 W. 10th St., Tyrone for the past 40 years and was previously employed at the Curly Holtz Amoco Service Station. He was an accomplished and resourceful auto mechanic and will surely be missed by all those he helped over the years.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 3, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone, with Rev. Bernard Bookhammer officiating. Interment will follow at Burket Cemetery, Warriors Mark.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. and from 10 to the 11 a.m. service on Monday.
