Brandee Thompson, a seventh grader at Bellwood-Antis Middle School, recently received the honor of black belt. She has been practicing Tae Kwon Do for almost eight years, and her instructor is Dennis Arnold. Brandee’s parents are Eloise and Randy Thompson, and she has two sisters, Ashlee and Chelshea. Arnold explained that Brandee was tested by two fourth degree masters, one in Karate, and one in Tae Kwon Do, and three first degree Tae Kwon Dos. The test took approximately two hours. Shown is Arnold, Brandee and Ken Wertz, who helps to instruct at Arnold’s Tae Kwon Do. Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at LA Fitness Gym located on Pennsylvania Avenue in Tyrone. For more information, call 686-3968. (The Daily Herald/Christina Pryor)
