Earlier this week, Cate Crider of Rossi’s Corner Sore, presented a check to Myers Elementary School Principal Terri Harpster.
The check, for $500, is a grant from the ExxonMobile Educational Alliance program.
Rossi worked with Bellwood-Antis School District officials to secure the grant, which is one of 4,000 available to schools across the country.
The grants were made possible by funding from the ExxonMobil Corporation.
“Myers Elementary works hard to make learning interesting and fun,” said Crider who also shared her excitement for the great new facility for students as well as a new rewards program.
“As an Exxon retailer, I am proud to help young people in the Bellwood and Antis Township communities.”
A press release provided for The Daily Herald explained that the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program is designed to provide Exxon and Mobil retailers with an opportunity to invest in the future of their communities through educational grants to neighborhood schools.
The release noted, “ExxonMobil believes that, as members of the community, local retailers are best qualified to work with local educators to help identify schools and programs most in need of support.”
Rossi’s Corner Store had to meet stringent eligibility criteria before applying for and being rewarded the grant.
Part of the criteria included “having a commitment to provide a superior buying experience for customers.”
Crider, along with her daughter, Tessa, were on hand earlier this week to present the check to the school.
This is nothing new, as Rossi’s Corner Store has participated in the grant program in past years.
