The Snyder Township Board of Supervisors unanimously approved an Ordinance that allows an agreement between Snyder Township and the Tyrone School District for crossing guards on Clay Avenue in front of the High School and Elementary School.
After months of debate, a solution was achieved. Tuesday, a proposed agreement was approved by the Tyrone School Board and last night, the Snyder Township Board of Supervisors approved the same agreement. The Ordinance takes effect August 20th.
In the public comment portion of the Board meeting, many residents voiced their displeasure over the location of the Pyramid Healthcare facility in Bald Eagle.
There were 44 residents who signed in at the meeting and it was estimated that 75 residents were there. The group is holding a meeting tonight at the Bald Eagle Fire Hall. The meeting starts at 7 p.m.
The Daily Herald spoke with Snyder Township resident Bonnie Houser, and she is looking for answers.
“We understand that the Blandburg facility was a problem before the people at Pyramid took over,” said Houser. “What happens if they go out of business and sell to someone else. What happens if they think this is a great location and decide to expand for adult drug abuse counseling and maybe a halfway house. That would put the safety of the area residents at risk. That is why I am fighting at the ground level.”
The group is retaining an attorney and notifing their representatives of their intention to fight the issue.
Pyramid said at the Tyrone School Board meeting that it will be a treatment facility for emotionally challenged students. Pyramid also announced that the Green Tree Village facility would not be a drug treatment center or a halfway house.
In other Board matters, it was approved to exempt Northern Blair Regional Sewer Authority road occupancy permit fees in Ironsville and Tyrone Forge. The Board also approved the land development for the expansion of the Smith Transport facility in Vail.
